Nursing Professional Development Week

Supporting the Careers of Incredible Nurses

Taking place September 14-20, 2025, Nursing Professional Development Week celebrates the contributions of Nursing Professional Development (NPD) practitioners and the professional growth of all nurses!

NPD Week is a fantastic opportunity for nurses to reflect on their career paths, learn about new developments in their field, and connect with colleagues. At Care Options for Kids, we’re proud to take part in this important event and shine a light on the inspiring progress we see every day.

We believe that a nurturing culture of professional development is a win for everyone, resulting in improved care delivery, increased job satisfaction, and a better life for the patients we serve.

Your Why Makes a Difference

Resources for Growth

From hands-on training and continuing education to mentorship and life balance, we’re committed to ensuring our nursing team has the support they need to truly thrive and grow in their careers. Our professional development resources at Care Options for Kids include the following suite of comprehensive programs:

  • New Graduate Training Program: Our New Graduate Training Program is designed specifically for newly licensed nurses with less than 6 months of work experience as a nurse. We provide new graduates with the essential skills and knowledge they need to excel in the field of pediatric home care.
  • Preceptor Training Program: Designed for experienced pediatric nurses who are eager to lead, mentor, and inspire the next generation of home health clinicians. Our preceptors play a vital role in supporting new graduate nurses, newly hired staff, and nurses expanding their clinical skills through uptiering.
  • Nurse Skill Advancement Program: We’re excited to offer our nurses the chance to advance their skills and expertise in pediatric care. By expanding the scope of practice, nurses gain confidence in handling advanced pediatric conditions while enhancing their career advancement opportunities.
  • Respiratory Training Program: This training focuses on tracheostomy care, ventilator management, and essential respiratory equipment, and is delivered through a combination of classroom/lab sessions and hands-on in-home instruction.

Stories of Success

We’re so proud of the many nurses at Care Options for Kids who have taken steps to grow and thrive within our care community. Here are just a few of the many success stories of professional development on our team:

Francis Chege, RN
Growing from certified home health aid (CHHA) to field nurse to supervisor and now Director of Clinical Services, Francis exemplifies the possibilities and opportunities that come from hard work and compassion.

Angel Ullah, LPN
Before Angel joined Care Options for Kids, she experienced the 24/7 support of our nurses firsthand as they cared for her daughter, who was born with Trisomy 18. Her experience inspired her to become an LPN herself, and she is currently proud to serve in the role of Client Services Manager for the northeast region of Florida.

Janelle Thomas, RN
Janelle started with Care Options for Kids as a Director of Nursing and became deeply interested in the educational aspects of her role. After returning to school and spending time as a field nurse, Janelle came back to Care Options for Kids as a Florida Educator before eventually becoming Director of Education and Training.

Trisha Cavagnaro, RN
Trisha’s journey started in 2009 when she was hired right out of nursing school as an LPN before eventually returning to school to become an RN. Since that time, she has worked in nearly every position in the company, eventually growing to Director of Nursing and into her current role of Regional Vice President for New Jersey.
