Pennsylvania’s HHA Certification Program
The Pennsylvania Care Academy is a state-recognized training program that prepares individuals to provide safe, high-quality care in home and community settings. The program meets Department of Human Services (DHS) and Department of Health (DOH) standards for direct care workers, home health aides, and personal care attendants.
Anyone interested in becoming a certified caregiver in Pennsylvania may enroll—this includes new caregivers, family members providing care for loved ones, and individuals seeking employment in home health or personal care settings.
The program includes 59 hours of self-paced online coursework followed by 16 hours of hands-on, in-person training. This combination gives participants both the knowledge and real-world skills needed to confidently step into their role and begin providing care right away.
Yes. Upon successful completion of all modules and assessments, participants receive a Certificate of Completion recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. This certificate can be shared with employers as proof of state-compliant caregiver training.
You can register directly by contacting your local office. Once enrolled, participants receive login information and can begin training immediately at their own pace.
Yes. You’ll receive a $900 bonus for completing the program, plus the opportunity to earn additional stipends if you finish within the required timeframe.
